What is a tongue and groove?

They are thin pieces of brushed solid wood in which its length predominates over its width, with which walls, ceilings, and other walls, both inside and outside, are covered and decorated. These pieces of wood the edges on one side are machined in the form of a tongue (male) and on the other side in the form of a groove or groove (female).

Hence the name of tongue and groove, the piece with the tongue is designed to perfectly fit the groove or channel. To assemble these pieces, the male-tongue is fitted into the female-groove of another piece, thus remaining united to support the loads of use.
