Sustainable cladding with Lunawood heat-treated wood in La Arboleda del Sur

03/12/2023
The architecture studio Picado de Blas has carried out a construction project in the hotel complex “La Arboleda del Sur” with sustainable methods: a modular system of self-supporting panels in PIR galvanized steel and Luna Thermo-D Flandes pine wood by Lunawood® (PEFC certified).

The heat-treated wood surrounds the facades of the building with a shade structure and blends in with the garden environment while offering solutions of great environmental protection to the variable inclement weather in the area: from intense cold, heavy snowfall and strong winds to days extremely hot.

With the construction method used, it only took four months for the building, since it weighs eight times less than traditional construction. The removable construction technique also makes the project an ecological work, since it minimizes transport (large size-low weight of the panels), reducing gas emissions by 84%.

Lunawood® heat-treated wood cladding is an optimal solution for cladding new construction, both for homes or wooden service buildings as well as for classic constructions made of concrete, brick, or other materials. Luna Thermo-D exterior cladding offers a useful life of 30 years, assuming a beautiful silver-grey colour over time when exposed to UV light and without any treatment.

In this project, a total of 1000 m2 have been covered with Lunawood® heat-treated pine wood slats specifically for outdoor spaces.
