Gabarró collaborates with the ELISAVA university school in the project "3 km"

03/12/2023
Students from the University School of Design and Engineering Elisava (Barcelona) have carried out the construction of a summer pavilion located on the terrace of the third floor of the school.

This project called "3kms" and led by the architect Eugeni Bach, is the result of a workshop in which the students of the Master in Ephemeral Architecture and Temporary Spaces (MEATS) and the Master in Graphic Design have participated.

The name of this project is not random, but refers to the linear amount of all the wood used for its construction. Gabarró has been the supplier for the necessary material: 660 slats of Flanders wood of 4500 mm length and 20 MDF waterproof boards of 16 mm thickness, wow! The boards have been machined to create these diverse and original shapes.

One of the challenges of the project was the temporality, since it has been designed and built in less than a week. However, the final result is really spectacular, the wood and fiber framework results in a space that inspires creativity and community and that aims to host any type of activity that takes place in it.

It is always a pleasure for us to collaborate on initiatives like this, since they allow us to see and be surprised by the different and inspiring uses that new generations of architects, designers, interior designers, etc can give to both wood and prefabricated products.
